The American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine Expresses Gratitude to President Tom F. Novacheck, MD (2021-22)

Milwaukee, WI., September 26, 2022 – The American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine (AACPDM) is pleased to recognize the accomplishments of 2021-22 AACPDM President Tom Novacheck, MD. 

The mission of the AACPDM is: 

Empowering and supporting a collaborative multidisciplinary community that 

  • provides accessible and robust scientific education for health professionals and researchers 
  • fosters innovative research as well as its dissemination and implementation 
  • advocates for equitable access to evidence-based and patient-centered care 

Dr. Tom Novacheck, AACPDM President (2021-22), stated, “Serving as the AACPDM President this past year has been an extreme honor. Being at the center of the Academy, effecting change in a real way, and seeing the hard work and dedication of the member has been an inspiration. Thank you to all of the AACPDM members who continue to advocate for the advancement of equitable access to education, health services, and evidence-based patient care.” 

Incoming AACPDM President, Lesley Pritchard, PT, Ph.D. (2022-23), stated, “I would like to applaud Dr. Novacheck for his bold leadership during a year of transition as the Academy undertook a new strategic plan, restructured the Care Pathways Committee into a Council, and championed the concept of diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the Annual Meeting and Committee work.” 

Dr. Novacheck is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Orthopedics at the University of Minnesota and is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon who specializes in treating cerebral palsy, scoliosis, and complex hip conditions in children and adolescents. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Medical School, completed his orthopedic residency at Pennsylvania State University, and his pediatric orthopedic fellowship at Newington Children’s Hospital in Newington, Connecticut.
