American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine (AACPDM) Fred P. Sage Award

The AACPDM defines a multimedia education tool as a program, software, audiovisual aid, interactive online module, or mobile app that displays clinical research or educational materials. Dr. Fred Sage, Past President (1980) of the AACPDM, envisioned the great potential of audio-visual use in medical education. He advocated for ways to popularize this method of teaching, and his interest led to the Fred P. Sage Award for Best Multimedia Education Tool.

The Fred P. Sage Award is given to the best multimedia submission presenting clinical, research, or educational material in a digital format. The recipient of this award will receive $500 USD and the AACPDM will post and announce the education tool on our website with applicable links.

Submissions for the Fred P. Sage Award are reviewed by the AACPDM Communications Committee. Submissions are judged on quality, clarity, potential impact on the specified audience, and use of media. All applicants must be AACPDM members in good standing.

A complete submission includes the following:

  • Completed application form (pages 2-3);
  • Written abstract of the multimedia education tool, including title, authors’ names, primary author’s address, full text (250 words or less), and acknowledgments;
  • Copy of your institution’s media release form, if applicable; and
  • Permission to post a link to the multimedia education tool on the AACPDM website.
