Message from Larry W. Desch, MD
Dr. Desch is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Chicago Medical School. Currently he is Site Director of Developmental Pediatrics at Advocate Children’s Hospital-Oak Lawn. He has authored a considerable number of research papers and other scholarly publications many of which deal with growth assessment of children with special needs, developmental neurophysiology and use of assistive technology. He has also co-edited, with Dr. Robert Nickel, a textbook guide to caring for children with disabilities and chronic conditions. Dr. Desch has also assisted various state and national agencies that deal with the wide spectrum of children with disabilities and has served on a number of advisory boards (e.g., programs for Children with Special Health Care Needs) and Committees for Children with Disabilities. The ideal Advr/Advs relationship is one in which there is mutual respect which can foster curiosity, creativity and improved skills..
