Message from Michele M. Tourne, PT DPT PCS
I have been a pediatric PT for 35 years and currently work as adjunct aculty for a post professional DPT program in Arizona, teaching courses on line. Prior to that, I worked as a PT and supervisor of an outpatient pediatric rehabilitation center located on a school campus in Northern California. While in California, I was a clinical instructor for PT students as well as pre-PT volunteers, and taught motor learning at a four year college for kinesiology majors. The ideal advisor facilitates problem solving and clinical reasoning by allowing the advisee to consider options as opposed to giving answers and advice; directs the advisee to resources to help them find solutions, connects the advisee with other professionals and shares clinical experiences relevant to their questions.
