Message from Alicia J. Spittle
Associate Professor Alicia Spittle is a paediatric physiotherapist and international leader in early detection of motor impairments and early intervention for infants at high risk of developmental impairments. She is deputy head of department of physiotherapy at the University of Melbourne. She is a passionate researcher who leads the motor team within the Victorian Infant Brain Studies (VIBeS) group at Murdoch Childrens Research Institute, along with holding a clinical appointment at the Royal Women’s Hospital, Melbourne. She has had an outstanding research trajectory since completing her PhD in 2008, having received over $9 million in research funding, published in the leading paediatric and physiotherapy journals and is an executive member of the NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence for Newborn Medicine. She supervises several research higher degree students from a range of disciplines and is a strong advocate for women in science.
