Annual Meeting Objectives
- To broaden the learning experience by presenting a multidisciplinary forum for professionals who care for individuals with cerebral palsy or other developmental disabilities
- To identify recent scientific advances in the area of developmental health care
- To describe current research pertaining to the study of cerebral palsy and other developmental disabilities
- To evaluate new studies on the care of individuals with cerebral palsy or other neuron developmental disabilities
- To foster interdisciplinary communication and interchange that will provide more effective care for individuals with cerebral palsy or neuron developmental disabilities
Purpose Statement
The educational program of the American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine (AACPDM) is designed to provide targeted opportunities for dissemination of information in the basic science, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and technical advances as applied to persons with cerebral palsy and developmental disorders. The program provides a forum for discussion of scientific developments and clinical advances in the care of people with these problems. The program is intended for all physicians and other health care providers who are concerned with and/or care for patients with these problems. By presenting forums which foster interdisciplinary communication and interchange among all allied health care professionals concerned with individuals with cerebral palsy and neurodevelopmental disorders, this program's purpose is to ensure that the qualified personnel have the skills and knowledge derived from practices that have been determined through research and experience to be successful in serving children with disabilities. The purpose is also to encourage teambuilding within organizations and institutions, encourage multicenter studies, develop information for parents, and find a consensus on the optimal care of various conditions.
