Scholarships

The American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine Scholarship Program supports the mission of the AACPDM to improve the health and general status of children and adults with cerebral palsy, developmental disorders and other childhood onset disabilities. Two types of scholarships are offered for each year's Annual Meeting.

Student Scholarship

The Academy seeks applicants who are full-time students or trainees to apply for this scholarship.  Scholarship applicants must be AACPDM members or applicants, and must have submitted an abstract to the Annual Meeting. Scholarship applicants are not required to be the first author on the abstract. Preference will be given to scholarship applicants whose abstracts have been accepted.

Student Scholarship recipients receive:
• Complimentary registration to the Annual Meeting
• Four complimentary Instructional Courses
• Valuable networking opportunities
• The chance to learn from multi-disciplinary experts in the field of childhood-onset disabilities
• Reimbursement of travel, hotel and food expenses up to $1000 (depending on the amount of the award; maximum award is $1000).

The 2012 Student Scholarship has closed.

 

International Scholarship

International Scholarship recipients receive:
• Complimentary registration to the Annual Meeting
• Four complimentary Instructional Courses
• Complimentary attendance at the International Affairs luncheon
• Valuable networking opportunities
• The chance to learn from multi-disciplinary experts in the field of childhood-onset disabilities
• Reimbursement of travel, hotel and food expenses up to $2500 (depending on the amount of the award; maximum award is $2500).

To qualify for the International Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be able to speak and understand English to such a degree as to participate easily in clinical discussions.
• Be attending from outside of North America.
• Not have received an International Scholarship within the last five (5) years.
• Be directly involved in research or care of individuals with cerebral palsy, developmental disorders, or other childhood acquired disability
• Have a substantial need for financial assistance to make attendance possible
• Have a university level degree (or country equivalent for their profession) which qualifies them for their specialty, or be in a pre or post doctoral program, residency or fellowship
• Be a current AACPDM member, or have applied for membership in AACPDM
